A Very Good Place to Start

Not sure where to start with your social media marketing? As a wise nanny once said, let’s start at the very beginning!

While strategy and tactics will differ between brands, I recently broke my process down to 6 major steps that can be used for everyone, whether you're an artist looking to sell your book or a small business looking to drive traffic to your website. Check it out below!

1️⃣Set a Goal
Identify what you want to achieve with your content, whether it's increasing brand awareness, driving website traffic, generating leads, or establishing thought leadership. Your objectives will guide the rest of your content planning process.

2️⃣Find Your Audience
Gain a deep understanding of your target audience. Identify their demographics, interests, pain points, and preferences. Then research what digital channel(s) your demographic is most likely to be frequenting.

3️⃣Strategize Content
Develop content pillars, key messages, and brand look, feel & voice. Identify key dates & campaigns for the course of the year. Begin breaking those campaigns down into individual posts.

4️⃣Post Regularly
Your content strategy is only as good as its consistency. Find a posting schedule that works for you and keep it up!

5️⃣Engage with Your Community
Social media is not a one-way street. Respond promptly to messages and comments on your own content. Follow members of your target audience and react & comment on their content . You can even share it (with credit!)

6️⃣Analyze & Evaluate
Schedule regular times to review your analytics (found on any social platform and many content managers). Evaluate what is working and what is not. Revisit the previous steps of your strategy as necessary based on what you see in your analytics report.

Obviously, every step has dozens of subitems and there's nuance to each account. So if you want to learn more about how to make this work for you, sign up for a free consult!
